Dear Reader,
Last year, I shared this snippet from my writing life. Of an idea that seized me. That wouldn’t let go. That I had to stop, drop, and write.
And now, that idea is a book. My adult debut, THE MATCHMAKER.
A society matchmaker realizes she’s in danger when her clients’ weddings are sabotaged in increasingly disturbing ways—an utterly original mystery from New York Times bestselling author Aisha Saeed.
Business has never been better for Nura Khan, a third-generation matchmaker in Atlanta. Her exclusive clientele benefits from her impeccable track record. And while a single thirty-one-year-old matchmaker would normally raise some perfectly threaded eyebrows in the community, Nura’s childhood best friend Azar is willing to double as her pretend fiancé at her clients’ weddings—as long as Nura is able to hide that her feelings for him might not be so pretend.
But all that glitters isn’t gold. While it’s not uncommon to get the occasional hate mail from rejected prospective clients, Nura is blindsided after a couple’s carefully constructed wedding implodes, the first in a cascading chain of suspicious and increasingly terrifying events. Someone is taking things too far, and with Azar and her matchmaking team by her side, Nura embarks on a dangerous cat-and-mouse game that threatens not only her safety but everything she’s worked so hard to build. With Love,
In the children’s literature space, I typically sell my stories based on an idea. Perhaps I’ll share a few pages with my editor. A synopsis. But as the idea that seized me this time was an adult book, and thus an entirely new space, I wrote the entire book first. It was such a joy to write this story, and I feel that is reflected within the pages of this book. And now, as this book leaves the space of being mine and only mine, to belonging to its reader— I feel much like I have this week as my eldest goes off to high school— like a part of my heart is now off in the world. It is as it should be, and it is both amazing and oh-so-terrifying.
I’m excited to share more about the behind the scenes of this story in subsequent newsletters. About the inspiration (looking at you, Ammi), and so much more, but in the meantime, if you’d like to support this story, here are a few ways (and thankyouthankyouthankyou):
Pre-ordering a book is one of the biggest ways to support an author and their book! It signals early enthusiasm which is incalculably helpful for us authors. You can pre-order anywhere books are sold including: Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Random House!
Are you a reviewer? I’m thrilled to share that THE MATCHMAKER is up for request at Netgalley! Reading and leaving reviews on Netgalley, Barnes and Nobles, Goodreads, also goes a long way to show publishers early enthusiasm which translates to more support for the title.

Phew— that’s it for now. And as always thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my stories.
With Love,
Aisha
Have a writing/craft question? Just ask! I’m hoping to address more crafty things in future newsletters but would love to tailor it to what’s on your mind!

And as always if you liked one of my books, and are so inclined, please leave a review on Barnes and Nobles, Amazon or Goodreads they can make such a difference (and thank you so much for your support; authors cannot do what we do without your support)!
